Program Objectives
The objective of the Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) is equal access for all Greeks – regardless of place of residence – to high-quality primary health services.
The program also aims to prevent diseases, improve people’s quality of life, and reduce medical emergencies.
Through the creation of an Electronic Medical Record, the medical history of each examinee and any findings of the examinations are recorded with the aim of monitoring and informing them regarding their health status and recommending further instructions, where deemed necessary, based on the findings of previous visits by the scientific team.
This is an Innovative Medical Program to upgrade Primary Health Care Medical Services in the Region of Greece.
Organization & Service Delivery
Since 2014, the Mobile Medical Units program maintains an Electronic Medical Record, through which each individual’s medical history and examination findings are recorded, with the aim of monitoring and informing them.
In 2021, the electronic medical record system was upgraded to a digital, cloud-based record, accessible directly by each individual.
Benefits of Electronic Medical Records:
- This innovative approach enables the instant upload and centralized storage of all medical test results, accessible at any time by each individual.
- It allows for instant access to medical data and seamless information sharing across specialties, even in emergency situations an essential advantage for remote and island communities.
- Supports the efficient management of large volumes of medical data, while offering individuals secure, real-time access to their personal health records via a unique access code. Access includes both medical reports and imaging examinations, with the ability to view results through dedicated digital platforms.
Appointments are scheduled exclusively online:
- via the myKIM mobile app, available on Google Play (Android) and the App Store (iOS)
- or through the website https://www.mykim.gr
Based on their scheduled appointment, individuals first visit the MMUs reception desk to complete administrative procedures, and are then directed to the clinics.
Some examinations are completed on the same day (e.g. ophthalmology), while others may require additional time for final results (e.g. mammography). All results are recorded in each individual’s electronic medical record.
Individuals can access their electronic medical record, which includes all imaging files (e.g. X-rays, mammograms), as well as their examination results and diagnoses. They can also download their records at any time. Access is provided through a unique code, available upon request from the reception desk.
